A set of five slim square-section bud vases in brushed aluminum, each one a clean vertical line meant to be read as a group.

The trick is underneath. Each vase sits on a magnetic 3-inch base that hides beneath a runner or a tablecloth, so the stems appear to rise straight out of the linen with nothing holding them up. Arrange them at any spacing and any height rhythm you like, and the hardware disappears.

The aluminum has taken on a natural patina, softening the brushed finish.

Each 9.5 inches tall, half an inch square, on a 3 by 3 inch base. Sold as a set of five. No longer available from MoMA.
