Four figures caught mid-step, arms linked, moving across a wash of terracotta and blue. The palette is all warmth against cool — ochre, coral, and cobalt worked in loose, confident strokes, faces reduced to a few decisive lines.

The composition reads as folk dance, or a chain of friends pulling each other forward. Nobody's face is finished, and that's the point. The energy is in the legs and the linked hands.

Painted by a Brooklyn artist who, on retiring, gave away his entire collection of more than fifty works. Every one of them unsigned. He wanted the paintings out in the world without his name attached, no credit and no explanation.
