A tupelo-wood duck decoy, carved and hand-painted by The Wooden Bird Factory. The body is finished in warm browns and burnt umber, with hand-painted wing detail in ochre and a flash of blue-and-white speculum along the flank. Coral-red bill, glass eye.

The red eye marks it as a diving duck — a canvasback or redhead — the birds that hunt beneath the surface rather than dabbling at it.

Maker's mark to the underside. Light surface wear to the paint, consistent with age and handling.
